Bangtao Muay Thai & MMA
Bangtao Muay Thai & MMA is a high-performance training camp in Cherngtalay, in the heart of Bang Tao on Phuket’s west coast. Bang Tao Beach is less than a 10-minute walk away. The gym opened in April 2022 and trains everyone from beginners to professional fighters.
It was founded by Andrew “Woody” Wood, Alex Schild, and brothers George and Frank Hickman, who spent more than nine years coaching top-level athletes together at Tiger Muay Thai before opening their own gym. Woody is a strength and conditioning coach, Alex is a ONE Championship MMA fighter, and Frank is a wrestling-for-MMA coach.
The gym has four full-size Muay Thai rings, a 9×9 meter MMA cage, more than 1,000 sq ft of BJJ and MMA mats, and a strength and conditioning floor with free weights, rowers and air bikes. Classes cover Muay Thai, MMA, BJJ, wrestling, boxing, kickboxing, fitness, Hyrox and yoga, with ice baths, the Ringside Cafe and a pro shop on site.
Based on an estimated US$40 (about ฿1,350) per night at Bangtao’s partner hotels for 7 nights, plus a week of martial arts training (฿4,000). Hotel rates vary by property and season; check with the gym for current prices. Every gym is compared on the same basis: one person, 7 nights in the most affordable room or bed, plus a week of group training.

How to Book This Facility
Training is booked online through Bangtao’s booking site. Packages include All Access (every class, from ฿5,000 per week), martial arts only (from ฿4,000 per week), and fitness only (from ฿4,500 per week, or a ฿900 day pass). For private coaching, contact the team directly.
